A Guided Tour of Walsingham will introduce you to this fascinating village, one of the most famous villages in England during Medieval times. The Tour includes many places of interest: The grounds of the ruined Augustinian Priory and site of the original Shrine to Our Lady: Modern Shrines: St. Mary's Church, The modern church of The Annunciation and other Places of Worship: Village architecture: The Georgian Courthouse, Museum and Prison reminds us that during the 18th and 19th centuries the village was a flourishing market town and legal centre.

Tours on Wednesday and Thursday at 11.00 am.

Tours leave from the Tourist Information Centre, The Shirehall, Little Walsingham.

Adults £4.50, OAP £4.00 children £2.50 -includes admission charge to Abbey Grounds and Shirehall Museum.

Group Tours can be arranged morning, afternoon or evening, and in most cases take about 2 hours. Illustrated Talks on the History of Walsingham are available all year by arrangement. Tours can be individually tailored to suits your interests:

Tour 1 - The Village Past and Present. The foundation of the Shrines - Ancient and Modern. Visit the ruined Augustinian Priory (the Abbey): Medieval and Georgian Architecture: the Parish Church and other places of worship. The Georgian Courthouse and the John Howard 'Model' Prison.

Tour 2 -"Judge for Yourself' Walsingham a Legal Centre during the 18th and 19th centuries. Visit the Georgian Courthouse and John Howard 'model' Prison. Quarter and Petty Sessions. "Swing Riots”, Transportation, Treadmill. Act out a court scene ?!

Tour 3 -Walsingham a Place of Pilgrimage. The establishment of the Holy House in 1061. The Dissolution of the Priory 1538 and the 20th century re-establishment of the Anglican and Roman Catholic shrines. Visit ruined Augustinian Priory, Anglican Shrine, St. Mary's Church, The Georgian Methodist Chapel and Russian Orthodox Chapel.

Tour 4 -Great Walsingham. The little village of Great Walsingham is well worth a visit. St. Peter's Church, a fine example of the Decorated style: The Russian Orthodox Church of the Transfiguration in the Victorian Methodist Chapel: the Green: The Great Walsingham Barns complex of local crafts, gift shops and coffee shop.
